Day 1: Believing Isn't Seeing - by Mordecai Jasper (ACC Elder)

Read: 1 John 1:1-4

Review: It isn’t surprising that many people doubt that Jesus was real, lived a perfect life, was crucified, buried, and rose from the dead. Many people are like Thomas, aka "doubting Thomas". Have you ever doubted because you hadn’t personally seen or experienced something? What did it take for you to change your mind?

John wrote to people who had a difficult time believing the Gospel, so he told them about the disciples’ personal life-changing experiences and their fellowship with the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. We might have a difficult time convincing a doubting person that Jesus did what the Bible says he did and that He will come again, but we might persuade them by telling them about our ongoing, life-changing experience since we became a follower of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “Blessed are those who have not seen yet believe.” What’s your story?

Reflect: How has your life changed since you became a follower of Christ? How could God use your story to persuade someone to accept His gift of salvation?

Try writing your story in three paragraphs describing your 1) life before Christ, 2) salvation and baptism experience, and 3) life after Christ.
